My Travel Blog: Fiesta of the Conversion of St. Paul in Vigan

Image
I traveled to Vigan City, also known as the Heritage City, during the Fiesta of the Conversion of St. Paul. The city became more colorful and lively because of the different activities prepared for the celebration. The Fiesta of the Conversion of St. Paul is an important event in Vigan. It shows the strong faith and culture of the people. A lot of people watched the event. Despite the new normal, people enjoyed the fiesta and followed the safety rules. The Longganisa Festival took place before the parade. I had the opportunity to watch it, and it was fun and exciting. Vigan is known for its longganisa, and that is why many people enjoyed watching the event. I could not take a photo of it for my travel blog, but it was fun watching the event. I joined the parade on January 25, 2026. Although it was tiresome as we walked for a long time, it was fun joining the parade. However, it made sense joining the parade as I was together with my co-Boy Scout members. This made the event very specia...

Third Quarter Reflection

Image
During the Third Quarter, I gained a deeper understanding of health-related concepts and how they apply to real-life situations. I learned the importance of making informed decisions about physical, mental, and social health, as well as how lifestyle choices can greatly affect overall well-being. Creating and connecting educational health content helped me discover how health information should be accurate, clear, and relatable so it can truly help others. This quarter also improved my critical thinking and communication skills, especially in explaining health topics in a simple yet meaningful way. Throughout the quarter, I encountered several challenges, particularly in managing time and understanding complex health topics. Some lessons required careful research and deeper analysis, which became difficult when deadlines from different subjects overlapped. I also struggled at times with organizing my ideas and presenting health information in a way that was both informative and engagin...

Jose Rizal, The face of the Philippines

Image
Jose Rizal is considered the face of the Philippines because his life and writings brought about the national identity of the Filipino people. Jose Rizal’s greatest contribution to the Philippine society was not done through armed struggle but through his written words and his peaceful fight against the abuse of the Spanish government.  During that time when Filipinos were perceived as inferior beings, Jose Rizal was able to show that through education and moral strength, oppression and division can be overcome. Rizal was able to address the injustices of Spanish colonization through his writings under the titles "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo." Rizal was able to open the eyes of the Filipino people to the fact of colonial injustices. His message was more on reform, truth, and dignity than on violence; hence, his writings remain influential until today. Rizal’s advocacy for education was a significant contribution to Philippine society as a whole. Rizal b...

Celebration of the Christmas Season

Image
Home was full of joy during the Christmas season with all the merriment and laughter we shared. The simple activities we engaged in to mark the festival – decorating the house, preparing the meals, and giving gifts – were all like sweet reminders to us that it's a fact: it's the presence of love among the members of the family that matters during the Christmas season. These moments were definitely like the making of memory, which was very real and lasting. Being at home also allowed us to think about what Christmas is really about: love, kindness, and gratitude. Of course, we got to enjoy the experience of the season slowly and at our own pace even if we had the option to go out. The feeling of being in our own home combined with all the interactions of high importance made this Christmas event extremely valuable and satisfying for me. In the end, our humble celebration proved that Christmas is not really about the tourist attractions and grand celebrations, but about spending...

Enriching Weaving Culture

Image
The Philippines every October celebrates National Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month as a way of honoring the culture, heritage, and the still existing contributions of its Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples, who inhabit the different parts of the country. The theme for this year “Weaving Culture, Enriching Future: Empowering Indigenous Communities as Bedrock of Sustainable Development” is accentuating the fact that native identities and customs are the main factors of sustainable development and the social fabric of the country. The event coincides with the anniversary of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) which legally recognizes ancestral domains, cultural integrity, and collective rights. Among the activities that are going on throughout the entire month, the performing of traditional dances, music playing, and rituals are the most relevant ones that display the living practices linking communities with their ancestors and their surrounding nature. National Children's Month

Image
This year's theme for National Children's Month is "OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!" which means to end online sexual abuse and exploitation of children. It is important because day in and day out, children go online, and not all online spaces are safe for all users. This reminds us that we must protect them from any abuse. I think that the government is trying to protect children by creating laws and programs that punish offenders and keep children safe. There are various laws, like the Anti-Child Pornography Act and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, which help in combating online exploitation. The government also coordinates with agencies like the DSWD and the CWC in order to rescue victims and provide quick actions to cases. Awareness is also spread by the government through its campaigns in schools and communities. Through these programs, both children and parents are taught ways of safety on the internet, including how to repor...
