National Children's Month

Image
This year's theme for National Children's Month is "OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!" which means to end online sexual abuse and exploitation of children. It is important because day in and day out, children go online, and not all online spaces are safe for all users. This reminds us that we must protect them from any abuse. I think that the government is trying to protect children by creating laws and programs that punish offenders and keep children safe. There are various laws, like the Anti-Child Pornography Act and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, which help in combating online exploitation. The government also coordinates with agencies like the DSWD and the CWC in order to rescue victims and provide quick actions to cases. Awareness is also spread by the government through its campaigns in schools and communities. Through these programs, both children and parents are taught ways of safety on the internet, including how to repor...

My Second Quarter Experience

Image
During second quarter, I learned about something like being consistent and becoming serious in going for my goals. I learned more lessons in each subject, which helped me strengthen my knowledge and to improve my study habits or skills. I also learned that learning is easier if I listen carefully in classes, take notes, and review them not every time but regularly. One of the challenges I faced was dealing with pressure and stress from having too much responsibilities like joining a lot of events which can make me very busy some times. There were times when assignments from other teachers were given at the same time, and I felt tired by trying to accomplish everything. I also had problems with having endurance for academics and or my habits. Having expectations from my self, my family, and my teachers—sometimes led me to question whether I was capable of doing it all. These were times of trial for my discipline and mental toughness. To overcome these difficulties, I created a per...

Pagabelan ni Tinay and Vigan Heritage Jar Making: Preserving Ilocano Traditions

Image
Caoayan is a town that is near to the Heritage City of Vigan. It is referred to as the Birthplace of Abel, the Ilocanos' traditional handwoven material. One such popular weaving shop here is Pagabelan ni Tinay, where local weavers continues the tradition of making Abel on wooden looms and colorful threads. When I went to visit Pagabelan ni Tinay, I was able to witness how the weavers patiently worked on their designs. Their hands moved slowly, making patterns that shows both skill and imagination. It takes hours or days to complete one piece of fabric. They produce blankets, scarves, bags, and other items that capture the culture and diligence of Caoayan people. Although Abel weaving began in Caoayan, it has also become part of Vigan's heritage. There are still some of the weaving shops in Vigan that produce Abel to promote Ilocano craftsmanship to foreigners. It proves how Caoayan and Vigan work together in continuing this lovely tradition. Besides weaving, Vigan is also known...

My Teacher My Hero

Image
Teachers are not only teachers, but mentors, second parents, and life inspirations. This year's Teacher's Month Celebration with the theme "My Teacher, My Hero" acknowledges the infinite sacrifices and hard work of teachers who support students through challenges and victories. Their perseverance in shaping young minds and instilling character makes them the real heroes of today. In order to show my appreciation, I'll make sure to show respect and gratitude in simple but meaningful way. Saying "Thank you" by being active in their class is a way to let my teachers know that their efforts matter. Teachers spend hours preparing lessons, providing advice, and motivating us to move forward. Their patience certainly deserves admiration. I also admire teachers as role models who encourage me to dream big and to serve others. They do not just teach from books but from the heart—teaching discipline and kindness. As we celebrate this special month, I am reminde...

Insight on the 2025 National Science Month Celebration

Image
This year’s National Science Month is all about the theme “Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation.” For me, this theme means that science is not only about the things we already know, but also about exploring new ideas that can change the way we live. Science helps us discover things that may seem impossible today but can actually become real in the future. In the next decades, science and society will always be connected. For example, new inventions in technology, medicine, and energy will help solve many problems like climate change, diseases, and even space exploration. These discoveries will make life easier and safer for people, and at the same time push society forward to more progress. Without science, society cannot grow, and without society, science has no purpose. But I also think that science should be used wisely. Discoveries are powerful, but if they are not used properly, they can cause harm. That is why people in society need to set ru...

Climate change and the Resiliency of the Filipino

Image
Climate change is one of the biggest problems we have today, and the Philippines is one of the most affected. Sudden changes in the weather, like stronger typhoons, heavy flooding, and very hot days, are becoming more common. These happen mostly because of pollution, deforestation, and too much use of resources that harm the environment. Because of these problems, many Filipinos suffer. Families lose their homes after storms, farmers struggle to grow crops during long dry seasons, and coastal areas face the risk of rising sea levels. These situations make life harder, especially for the poor, who have less resources to get. But even with all these challenges, Filipinos are known to be strong. The spirit of bayanihan—helping each other in times of need—shows how people can come together after disasters. Communities rebuild, share resources, and give hope to someone despite the difficulties. However, resiliency is not enough if the environment continues to get worse. There is a need...
