National Children's Month

This year's theme for National Children's Month is "OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!" which means to end online sexual abuse and exploitation of children. It is important because day in and day out, children go online, and not all online spaces are safe for all users. This reminds us that we must protect them from any abuse.

I think that the government is trying to protect children by creating laws and programs that punish offenders and keep children safe. There are various laws, like the Anti-Child Pornography Act and the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, which help in combating online exploitation. The government also coordinates with agencies like the DSWD and the CWC in order to rescue victims and provide quick actions to cases. Awareness is also spread by the government through its campaigns in schools and communities.

Through these programs, both children and parents are taught ways of safety on the internet, including how to report suspicious activities. I think this helps a lot because many people still don't realize just how bad it can be out there on the internet.

Overall, this year's theme reminds us that protecting children is everyone's responsibility. The government, schools, parents, and the community must come together to make sure that every child grows up safe. Children deserve a future where their rights are always protected.
